Seller Story
When you are doing something, you love, you do not have to call it work. Terry and Deb Crites love farming, they have been doing it all their lives, 50 years as a married couple. Deb grew up in Northwest Kansas, Terry just across the state line in Colorado. Farming is part of their DNA, both being third generation farmers that established their own farm and ranch approximately 140 miles east of Denver in the quiet, tight-knit community of Kirk, CO where they raised three children.Their farming operation includes 3,200 acres of dryland ground and 730 acres of irrigated ground. Livestock was originally part of the operation but in the early 1990’s they sold off their cattle to acquire more farm ground. Terry & Deb believe that a key to a fifty year-long successful farming marriage has been having a fleet of new and well-maintained equipment and utilizing the latest technologies, which provided the integral components of farming the 4,000 acres by themselves.
Terry and Deb are truly at home on the Eastern Plains of Colorado; however, they have been blessed with six grandchildren that they want to enjoy and spend more time with. To have time to see these loved little ones, the Crites have decided to retire from farming, and have chosen BigIron Auctions to market the equipment that has been instrumental in their farming success.
