Seller Story

Ruey Douglas of Douglas Farms Incorporated has spent his life working the land in Novelty, Missouri. His father, who moved from Emden in the 1940s, took a chance on this flat, difficult-to-drain land, and Ruey continued the work, improving it over the years despite challenges like “buffalo wallows” that remain as a reminder of their persistence.

Ruey’s approach to farming has always been practical and hard-working. Most of the equipment on the farm was purchased new, except for a 1967 Ford truck with only 8,000 miles when bought. The farm's equipment has been kept inside and well-maintained, with no corners cut on upkeep, ensuring it remains in excellent condition for the next owner.

While Ruey is ready to pass on the equipment, he will miss the long days and early mornings of farm life. For him, the values of hard work, perseverance, and respect for both the land and equipment are at the heart of the operation.
